I just broke the website, I decided to finally press that "UPDATE" button that has been begging me to click it for about a year now. The result was ofcourse a crash of our whole news/message system, resulting in errors all over the website. Luckily I managed to fix it in about 10 minutes, without losing any messages.

Anyway, before I pressed that update button and the site imploded, I was here to grant you an update. So I guess I should get on with that. Last weeks we've been playing through our old songs with our new drummer. We're getting accustomed to his playing, and he to ours, and everything is going smooth. He's redoing all the drum parts in his own style, adding some of his own flair to it, and the songs are coming together nicely. We might do some subtle changes to old songs as we see fit, because Mike also brings a new insight into our music. We're aiming to be gig-ready again arround April, so we're open to gig invitations from that point onward.

That's all.

Infelix Returns

By: Bob de Vries on November 15, 2011

Hey there! Long time no seen, I seriously doubt if anyone is still following these posts since that it has been 3 months ago that I last posted again, but the time has come again for me to post messages. So I will summarize for you why you haven't heard of us in such a long while, and what has been going on.

First of, I have some sad news. We have decided to part ways with Wouter, we have spent much of the last 3 months trying to practice with Wouter, but his pursuit of a cooking career has made it impossible for us to find any time where the band could practice or gig together, since he spents most of his weekend working to master his craft, and the weekends are the time for us to do gigs and practice. We have been struggling with this since about half a year ago, but we where hoping that after holiday break, when he started attending his cook school he had more time to play with the band, but this was not the case.

Due to all this we haven't been able to commit ourselves a lot to Infelix the last couple of months. Our search for a new drummer however has ended, which brings me to the good news: We have a new drummer (HOORAY!). Mike Henseler, will take place on the Throne of Rhythm and will from this day on (well actually last sunday on), navigate us through our songs with great speed and much precision. We are going to try hard to get gig-ready again, untill then you will just have to take my word that we have an awesome new drummer.

We survived

By: Bob de Vries on August 1, 2011

The time of relief has arived, for a moment you though we didn't make it since we were supposed to get home Wednesday. Truth is, we actually got back on tuesday but didn't find/make time to post something here. But worry not my friends, we are alive and well. Here's a quick run down on the trip, but maybe/hopefully someone else could get up some video/photos to better demonstrate our journey through Scandinavia.

Anyway, on Sunday morning, early, very early, at 6 in the morning we left for Norway. The drive wasn't the most comfortable thing we did, it was probably one of the most uncomfortable things I did since we where really packed like tunas. We had far to much stuff on us for such a tiny car so the guys in the back where just burried under a pile of bags. First day we got all the way from Baarlo to Göthenborg, of course having some stops on the way and eating some form of Danish sausage. We slept at Göthenburg on the most crappy but also most expensive camping on our whole trip, but hey, we had 20 cans of hot dogs and we where in Göthenburg. We had a walk through Göthenburg and left for Norway the next morning. From here on I will stop naming things since I do not remember the names and the names where just plain silly. So that day we drove to somewhere in Norway and stayed there for a day. Or two. I don't remember. So we went hiking and looked arround, the landscape is pretty gorgious. Then we went to sleep to wake up in a wet tent, and decided to leave for somewhere else in Norway. We pretty much repeated that all our way through Norway and it seemed to work pretty well.

We also brainstormed on the album a bit, like album art and stuff. We only had one guitar so there wasn't much room for writing stuff, but I had a bit of a creative spurt when I returned home so we're working on some stuff. I also revisited two songs that I had lieing arround from just before we started on the album, of which I feel they would fit on the album. But that's to be seen.

Bearwrestling

By: Bob de Vries on July 5, 2011

You might be thinking "WHAT AN AWESOME TITLE FOR A NEWS POST, INFELIX MUST BE UP TO SOMETHING AMAZING." And you're right. We're having a road trip to Norway in about 2 weeks. We're going to be sleeping in the bushes, wrestling with bears, riding moose, killing fishes with stones to eat them, collecting mushrooms, making tea from random herbs etc. etc. So you can either expect some awesome stories afterwards, or a sad message telling how we died from an easily prevented cause of death.

While we're together with the band we'll probably work on some stuff too, I'll try bringing along my little acoustic guitar, and we're hoping to bring as much guitars as possible, but we also have to bring tents and LOTS of sausages to eat (You didn't really think we were going to hunt for food, did you?). So I'm not sure how much place we'll have. If all else fails we'll tape guitars to the roof. We can then use the guitars to working on the songs we already have, and try writing some lyrics/vocal melodies over them, so when we're back from the trip I hope the writing of the album will be pretty much done, save one or two tracks. Then we'll have to figure out how we're going to record it.

Songs

By: Bob de Vries on June 22, 2011

Why hello there, let's jump straight into an update on how the album is going. I just finished a first try for a new song so I thought it would be a good idea to tell you what we have done so far.

So far we've got about 5/6 songs ready/semi-ready, the more we progress the more the album is really getting it's own feel, and in my opinion the songs have never been as "uniform" as they are now, not only do all the songs have that Infelix feeling, but they also have an distinct other feeling that binds them all together. I'm really an advocate of listening albums instead of loose tracks so that is what I was going for. I'm personally really trying to structure the songs in a way that makes the songs pretty much flow into each other. What we've got so far which I think would be worthy to put on the album is (The names are just place holders so that we know which song we are talking about when we talk about a song):
Whispers in the dark, an acoustic intro-ish song that flows right into
Dance of Fate, which is the first real song on the album, assaulting the listener with melody right from the start and finishing off with a bit that has some piano in there.
Furthermore we have "Trick of the Mind" which as of yet doesn't progress into another song, but with a play time of about 5 and a half minutes it doesn't really need to. Probably the most diverse song as of now.
Black Blessings is the first song of another pair, it starts of with some nice clean guitars (Wouter is going to invest in an Ovation guitar so that we can get some really killer clean tones), and then quickly moving over to some melancholic poly-metre guitar riff, with some keyboard/strings on top to add to the dramatic effect (Most of the songs have a hint of keyboard here and there, I have no idea how we are going to to this live, but we'll see).
Terrordize, the next songs starts where Black Blessings left of, picking up on the somewhat melancholic/dramatic atmosphere and working towards a big melodic even more dramatic build up.
The latest song still has no name, but will probably be the last song, it's an a bit more uptempo/trashy song, but still stays in line with the general melodic atmosphere that we're working in. It closes of with a small segment that is also present at the start of Dance of fate.

Silly Season

By: Bob de Vries on June 6, 2011

It's that time ago, I have nothing to tell you, but yet I still place a message. The most exciting thing happening the last couple of weeks was Wouter, Hayk and Jeroen's birthday. Furthermore we're working on some new songs and played some of our old songs in our WAAAAAAY to hot practice room (It's fully equiped to keep sound in, but it also seems to work fine with keeping the heat in.)

By: Bob de Vries on May 19, 2011

Hello people, haven't got much to tell you, but it's been a week since I posted something so I decided it would be time to do that again. We had no practice this week, but instead celebrated Wouter's birthday and made some pictures with Tomm. I was actually waiting with my post untill I got the pictures but I actually have no idea how long that'll be and impatient as I am I decided to post. Can't really say much about the pictures, they'd be best described "Artsy" I guess. Anyway, here's a huge Dutch flag if you want to read everything in dutch:

Pictures and some music

By: Bob de Vries on May 12, 2011

I just got the pictures from our show in Geleen (Thank you Tomm), they look pretty awesome. I also have some music, I decided to do a quick recording of what me and Hayk have got so far on one of our songs "Trick of the Mind", some stuff will probably change around (or not), and it only has me playing on it (I do guitars/bass, computer does the drums) so don't expect too much, some parts are played rather sloppy but it was my first time playing Hayk's parts. Anyway here it is:

Diarrhoea

By: Bob de Vries on May 9, 2011

I think "meh" would describe our last gig best. When we arrived at the poolbar tent, the first thing that we noticed was that all other bands were playing pop music, and the people liked it so we already weren't really in line with the audience. That wasn't much of a problem though, although we play metal I think our music is pretty accesible.
Next thing that was wrong, was the fact that the sound on stage was crappy. But we're used to not hearing ourselves on stages so that wasn't really much of a problem.
The last thing that was wrong, spoiled pretty much everything though. I don't know why, and I don't know how but the sound was crap, I mean we've had gigs where the sound wasn't that great, but that's to be expected when you're playing bars. But we played on exactly the same gear as all other bands (except for my guitar amp) and although they all sounded fine, our sound sucked. The only thing that changed when we got on stage was that we had a different sound guy. One of our crew members (Or perhaps I should say, our only crew member (Or perhaps I should say: My Dad ) ) asked the sound guy if he could turn the guitars up because you couldn't hear them well in the audience, but he replied with "I'm not allowed", so perhaps the sound guy had really bad diarrhoea while we played and we had some stand in? Only time will tell.

More gig info

By: Bob de Vries on May 2, 2011

So here's the info on the 8 may gig: We'll be closing of the afternoon, and will play from about 18:00 till 19:00. We'll probably play something like a 50 minute setlist. We will play at the "Poolbar Tent", which is simply the tent by the Poolbar (Although I have no idea where that would be, but since it's some kind of tent it probably won't be hard to spot)

New Gig!

By: Bob de Vries on April 28, 2011

On the 8th of May Infelix will be playing in Maasbree, more info will be released when we know more, but it'll be somewhere between 14:00 and 18:30

I hope to get some fancier buttons, and something to make the rest of the site bilingual too.

Oh and,

By: Bob Jacobs on April 25, 2011

happy almost-too-late easter/zombie jezus day whatever you guys celebrate.

Today is monday and yesterday was sunday.

By: Bob de Vries on

FUN FUN FUN. We had a great time last saturday. There weren't a huge load of people, but the turnout was prettydecent. The people that came were fun though and seemed to have enjoyed the show (We even sold some t-shirts :D ). To add to that there was a cool guy with a beard to talk to and the bar made us snacks. Hooray!

We hope to land some more gigs soon, but the gig on the 30rd of April won't take place as Wouter's pristine cooking skills are needed in his restaurant.

Chez Paris

By: Bob de Vries on April 19, 2011

We got our first invitation to a gig last week, rather then having to pretty much beg for gigs, which is really awesome. We'll probably be playing in Meijel the 30rd of April. Still waiting for Wouter to check if he can play that day (Wouter happens to be in Paris at the time, but will return somewhere today). But it's definitly nice to actually have people invite us to play. Hooray for Infelix!

Yesterday, Hayk auditioned for Rock City in Eindhoven, in hopes of being able to learn more about music and the business in the coming couple of years. The rest of the band (except for Bob J who didn't fit in the car : ( (You know because we were already with five guys, not because he's too fat to fit in which my great English might imply)) ofcourse went with him to support him on his audition, and I think we did pretty okay. I guess. Most of us got pretty nervous having to play for Within Temptation's guitarist, and some other dude who surely knows more about music then the five of us combined. It was fun though, I hope Hayk gets a place.

New date for gig

By: Bob de Vries on April 11, 2011

The new date for the gig at the "Blues Rock Garaasj" will be the 23rd of April.

Me and Hayk will record the guitar tracks for a new demo of a new song somewhere this week, I'll post it when it's done. We're also doing some work on the concept album, what we have done so far:
Intro Song (It has piano and acoustic guitars and stuff, we're hoping to somehow get in a bit of orchestral stuff, but we'll see about that)
A draft of the second song (It's pretty much done, but I'm not too fond of the song, maybe if Hayk uses some of his magic on the song it'll be nice)
Half of the third song (I have some really nice parts written for this one, but it still needs to be arranged and needs Riffs/Melodies to complete it)
Trick of the Mind(A really awesome song somewhere later on the album, wrote it together with Hayk and I'm pretty convinced it's the best song we have written to date, I think we'll be able to get a preview of it up when we've finished the other demo)

Gig canceled

By: Bob de Vries on March 31, 2011

We just received word from the Blues Rock Garaasj that our gig scheduled for 10 April WON'T take place. We're going to pick a new date for the gig as soon as possible.

Website update/Concept Album

By: Bob de Vries on March 29, 2011

Hey there, I've tried doing some work on the site again, and as soon as I get the flash header thingy done, the website will be bilingual. (But that will probably take a while since I'll have to wait for someone to sent me the sourcefile). I've also been doing my best on getting the images to work, and I finally got them to work, JAY!. BUT, the thing is, image viewing somehow only works on our homepage and not in the media section where we need it.... I did add the pictures from last gig, but they are way too big to watch, and take way too long to load. So it'll probably take a while before that's working well. As much as I like this site I'm considering to build a new simpler one, because it's kind of hard to work around the thing with all the PHP and Flash that's going on. It sure looks nice, but I don't have the skills to work with them.

For now you can view all pictures from our last gig at 077 by clicking one of the pictures of hair below:
Infelix Infelix Infelix

Enough about our website, some news about the band: We are working on a concept album! Yesterday we decided that we we're going to write a concept album, Jeroen already has fleshed out a lot of ideas and themes, but I'll wait until we've all agreed on the concept before posting it. But it's probably going to be a full album length, and if I'm going to have my way, it's going to be a bit more progressive/spastic then our other songs. Some songs will most likely have some strings or piano or even some orchestra samples thrown in. We'll really write this thing to be an album, later we might adapt songs to use in our live set, but that's pretty far away. I'm also an advocate on including some screams on the thing, but this is all pretty much speculation. I'll post an update once I know more, or have some stuff to show you.

Final gig info

By: Bob de Vries on March 15, 2011

I got the final information on our gig next month in "Bluesrock garaasj", we'll be playing with Delirius and Dark Stage. No 90 Day Jane and no Orange Pulp but Delirius instead, doors are open from 18:00 and onwards, I don't know what time we'll play. The gig is in the far reaches of Limburg though, but perhaps we'll be able to load some extra people in between our band gear, if people are interested.

I also got some new pictures of the individual members of the band up under the "Band" section, Jeroen is also rewriting the short texts that go with it (Jeroen is our multilanguagecreativewritedude). Hooray.

Vacation, Phones and Viagra.

By: Bob de Vries on March 13, 2011

Hey there fans (It's more fun when I pretend people actually read our site). I decided to post an update so it looks like we're still working hard. Fact is we're not working that hard at the moment, I just returned from a short vacation in London so band practice has been delayed for a bit. Don't worry though, we'll be starting up again somewhere this week. I'll hopefully find/make time as well to get the photo's on because they are awesome.

P.S. I lost my phone in London, so you can't contact Infelix by phone at the moment.

P.P.S. It seems that spam sites have found out about our site so if anyone is in need of penile enlargement pills feel free to mail and I'll forward you the interesting offers.

After the gig

By: Bob de Vries on February 27, 2011

Big thanks to everyone that attended our gig yesterday, we had a lot of fun up on the "stage", and were pretty happy with the whole thing. Special thanks to Tomm for coming to see us again, and taking pictures. I'll put the pictures on the site as soon as we get them and I'll try fixing our photo display thing somewhere on the way. I think we have a lot more pictures he made stashed away somewhere that are definitely worth showcasing.

I hope everyone enjoyed our gig as much as we did, and we hope to see you all again.

Gig and song info

By: Bob de Vries on February 5, 2011

Unlike prior post, the ands that we'll be playing with on the 10th of april are going to be 90dayjane and Darkstage. We'll however still play with "Orange Pulp" but that'll be the 26th of Februari when we have a gig in Café 077 in Venlo. I'm pretty excited to have landed a gig so soon, but now there's a lot of work for us to do. Still have to learn new songs, re-practice some old songs write vocal melodies for the new songs, but we'll manage.

I also decided it might be nice for everyone that wants to check Infelix out to have an idea what we're about, so I'm writing a quick rundown on all the songs we play. First of starting with our Covers:
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man
In Flames - Artifacts of the Black Rain
In Flames - Only for the Weak
Metallica - Creeping death

Think these songs pretty much speak for themselves, if you like metal and you haven't heard these songs you're missing out on something. We play the songs pretty close to there originals, but we're not a cover-band so they're not note-for-note replica's but rather our interpretation of the songs, but still we remain pretty close.
Now it's time for our original songs, I'm just trying to give you an idea what the songs are like. Instead of telling you this on every song I'll tell you up front, that all of our songs have solos and strong choruses, the rest greatly varies per song.
Originals
Clockworks We have a demo up for this one, it contains huge blasts of energy and sounds pretty mysterious, reinforcing the lyrics about human's grasp on time.
Enter the Inferno Demo is up for this one as well, it's an a bit longer song that takes you on a journey through the trenches of WWI, containing bombarding guitar riffs, eerie leads and a really tasty solo by Hayk.
Unreachable Demo is up for Unreachable, Unreachable is pretty much filled to the brim with different riffs and melodies, it's one of the most diverse songs we have. The song progresses from a melodic intro riff to dark and aggressive riffing at the end.
Mark my Words Starts of with a tapped lick that might remind you of Van Halen, and remains really melodic throughout the whole song.
Fly One of our a bit merrier songs, it has verses and choruses that you could sing along to well if you knew the lyrics. Somewhere in the middle the song breaks down to some a bit more aggressive, trashy riffing.
Mad Man's Cry The first original song Infelix wrote. The song is a bit of a musical journey much like Unreachable and Enter the Inferno, but has a bit less melody and a trashy riff as verse instead of the more melodic verses we use in most of our songs.
New songs
The Wanderer Our longest song to date (7 Minutes), the listener joins in on the journey of someone that's trying to find home. Starting off with calm atmospheric clean parts and ending of with a storm of fast melodic riffs.
Slaying Cherubim Really up-tempo song that really showcases Hayk's signature riffs that combine Trash Metal's speed and Melodic Deathmetal's sense of melody. Song contains very strong melodies and a bit of dual-guitar solo.
Current of Dreams The song Bob J referred to in one of his posts. Contains a lot of melody and melodic interplay between guitars. It also contains an a bit djenty breakdown.

Jay Jeroen

By: Bob de Vries on February 3, 2011

Practice Sunday went pretty well with Jeroen back on the bass again. Luckily he remembered most of the songs. He'll just have to learn the two new songs (If he finds time in between playing Madden :P , he came back Sunday all dressed up in American Footbal merch), which will be ready for action sunday with the finishing of the vocal lines. Today I'm going to see some bar for negotiations on a gig so that you can hear our new songs as well.

By: Jeroen on January 27, 2011

Hi everyone! The day you have been waiting for is approaching fast. I will fly back to the Netherlands tomorrow local time, and arrive in the Netherlands on Saturday.

See you soon at a gig!

All of a sudden we got a few places to play at, pretty cool!

There's more awesome stuff coming but yeah, we'll announce them when the time is right.

On a side note, here's a picture for you guys n' girls to stick on the wall next to your bed!

New Gig

By: Bob de Vries on January 15, 2011

Hey there, we've confirmed a gig the 10th of April, at the Blues rock Garaasj in Geleen. We'll be playing together with "Orange Pulp" a local alternative rock coverband (If my information is up to date). I'll try and keep you guys updated on the exact details.

Downtuning

By: Bob de Vries on January 7, 2011

Of zoiets.

Downtuning

By: Bob de Vries on

This news thing seems to be working great, keep an eye on Jeroen's post below, because he seems to be update how long it'll take before he returns. Either that or I have a really bad memory, because I'm pretty sure it used to say 30.

Some more news for you guys, we decided to downtune our instruments even further to C Standard because we feel it fits more with Bob J's vocal style, I personally really love it, because this makes it possible for him to add an extra octave in the high register (well, that is relatively to the music). This basically means there's a lot more variety in the vocals, which to me sounds a lot more lively. I think Wouter and Bob J redid all vocal melodies somewhere this week.

This also means that the demo's have gone out of date again, but we'll probably try redoing Enter the Inferno somewhere this week because Jeroen had an opportunity to get one of our songs on a CD for some kind of listening party. We'll probably leave the other demo's as they are for nostalgia's sake (Just like we left Only for the Weak where we're still tuned to E standard).

Enter The Inferno demo

By: Bob Jacobs on January 6, 2011

Hey there,

So yeah I notice this awesome new way of posting and ofcourse I will make my first post more awesome than all the other's first posts, here's a recording of our song "Enter The Inferno".

Hope you guys like it and maybe even like/subscribe/comment whatever way there is to express your love for us!

Also, Bob just wrote a new song and seriously. It's a masterpiece! It will probably be the next song we're gonna make a demo out. I didn't keep my pants clean when I heard it...

Cya!

Website update/New Demo

By: Bob de Vries on

I updated the site to make it possible for all members to easily post stuff. In the past I needed to manually add everything to the website, so you're probably going to get more updates on the band now.

I also have the demo for "Enter the Inferno" done, and I'm going to try posting it using our new system, so if we're lucky, the song will be here:

Renewed Demo’s

By: Bob de Vries on December 19, 2010

Hello there, we worked a bit on the demo's to make the sound a bit better. So they got a bit better, still not perfect but our recording/mixing skills are slowly getting better. In other recording news: Yesterday Wouter and me (Bob), made some DIY drum-triggers out of Christmas cards (The ones with music, which have small speakers that can be salvaged and turned into triggers). We're probably going to use these to record a demo for "Enter the Inferno" somewhere in the near future.

Word of Jeroen

By: Jeroen on December 8, 2010

A special message to all Chandler students and teachers: Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to visit this site. We hope you enjoy the demos, even though the quality is not eye-popping. We'll keep you updated about new stuff once Jeroen is back in the Netherlands!

Jeroen goes America

By: Bob de Vries on November 17, 2010

Hey guys, I decided I might as well use the site since we pay for it. So, as you might have seen, there hasn't really been any news for a while. The reason is, Jeroen (Our mighty bassplayer) is off to America for 3 months. The band is of course continuing work, but without Jeroen to keep the machine oiled, work is rather slow. We are still open to gig requests though, if needed we'll get a temporary bassplayer.

Gig

By: Bob de Vries on September 12, 2010

Sorry for everyone who had to wait in the cold to see us play, but our band had been informed to play at 3 o'clock but once we got there, we were told that we were playing at 4 o'clock, and at 4 o'clock we had no sound man since, he was told that we played at 5 o'clock. It was a nice gig, when we arrived there weren't a lot of people, but once we started playing our music lured in a decent crowd. Thanks for everyone who was there, we had a great time, and I hope you did too.

Gig Info

By: Bob de Vries on September 8, 2010

We'll be playing at 3 o'clock, outside of Sjiwa if the weather's fine, inside if the weather's bad. We hope to see you there.

Pictures and updated demos

By: Bob de Vries on September 5, 2010

We updated the demo's with a new demo for "Clockworks" and did some work on Unreachable. They are still homebrew quality so don't expect much. Also we have some pictures under "media" for a while now, but sadly I somehow can't get them to display properly.

New Gig!

News

By: Bob de Vries on July 8, 2010

Band is still going strong, just posting something here since there hasn't been any for a while. We're hoping to plan some new gigs. We're also considering putting some money together to get ourselves some better demo's since our own productions aren't that fantastic.
If anyone knows a place we could play, make sure to contact us at info@infelix.nl
